Terms of Use

The rules for using ahmedonics.com, the free engineering tools and guides, our downloads and a Hub account. Paid work, products and hosted software follow the agreement, quotation or licence that applies to them.

What these terms cover

These terms apply between you and Ahmedonics Technologies (Private) Limited ("Ahmedonics", "we") whenever you use ahmedonics.com, the engineering tools and guides published on it, the downloads page, the Hub at /hub/ (including the client portal, the API, the MCP endpoint and connected applications) and the links we send that need no account: shared files, deliveries and signing pages. By using any of them you accept these terms; if you do not, please do not use them.

Paid work is governed by the quotation, contract or agreement we signed with you. Software and hardware products are governed by the licence or product terms supplied with them. Hosted cloud products have their own terms on their own sites. Where such a document says something different from this page, that document wins for the matter it covers.

Using the website

You may browse the site freely, link to any page and quote short passages with attribution and a link. The text, diagrams, illustrations, tool code and design are ours or licensed to us; you may not republish them wholesale, present them as your own or extract them in bulk by automated means. You may not probe, overload or interfere with the site or bypass its rate limits and protections, except within the rules of our responsible disclosure page.

Engineering tools and guides

The tools and guides are provided free of charge for information and education. Each tool page states the formula it uses, the data behind it, a worked example and its assumptions and limitations; each guide states its sources and review date. They are written with care, but they are not engineering advice for your installation.

Electrical, energy, electronics and automation work can injure or kill and can damage equipment and property. Before relying on a result, check it against the standards and regulations that apply where you are, the manufacturer's data for the equipment in question, and a qualified engineer who has seen the installation. We accept no responsibility for decisions taken on the basis of a tool or guide alone. If you find an error, tell us and we will correct it.

Downloads

Files on the downloads page — installers, firmware, utilities and manuals — are provided under the licence stated with each file or in its release notes. Where none is stated, the file may be used only with the Ahmedonics product it belongs to, and may not be redistributed, sold or modified. Firmware is for the hardware it was built for; installing it on anything else is at your own risk and outside any warranty.

Every file carries a SHA-256 checksum, and releases are signed. Verify the checksum before installing; a file whose checksum does not match should not be run, and we would like to hear about it.

Hub accounts

A Hub account is for clients we work with — created by you on the site, with the address confirmed by link, or by us at your request — and for our own staff. You do not need an account to contact us. When you have one:

  • Give us accurate details and keep them current. One account is for one person; do not share it.
  • Keep your password secret. We recommend two-factor authentication, which you can switch on under My account. Tell us at once if you believe the account has been compromised.
  • You are responsible for what is done with your account, with the personal API tokens you create and with the applications you connect through OAuth. Tokens and connections can be revoked at any time under My account, and their actions are recorded in the audit log under your name.
  • If you act for a client organisation, that organisation is responsible for who it allows into its portal and for telling us when someone leaves so we can close their access.
  • We may suspend or close an account to protect the service or other users, when these terms are broken, or when the client relationship it belongs to ends. An account whose e-mail address is never confirmed may be removed.

Acceptable use

Do not use the Hub, a shared link, a ticket or an upload to store or send anything unlawful, infringing, defamatory or malicious. Uploads are limited to the document, image, drawing, data and archive types we allow and to a size limit; executables, scripts and web pages are refused, and every file is checked on the way in. Do not attempt to reach records that are not shared with you, to guess or replay links and tokens, or to defeat rate limits. Use the API and connected applications only within the scopes of the token and for the purposes of your work with us. Shared links are for the person they were sent to; do not forward them.

You keep ownership of everything you upload or send us. You give us permission to store it, keep versions of it, back it up (including in the mirror described in our privacy policy), and process it as far as the work requires. We keep every version and never overwrite a file; a project link shows what has been marked visible to the client unless we deliberately share more. Links we send carry the expiry, password and download limit their creator set and may be revoked; treat them as confidential.

Electronic signatures

We send contracts, agreements, policies and approvals for signature through the Hub. You sign by typing your name, entering the code sent to your e-mail address and ticking the consent sentence shown on the page; you may instead decline with a reason, or ask to sign on paper. By signing electronically you agree that the signature is yours and that it binds you, or the organisation you act for, in the same way as a handwritten signature, so far as the law allows. The document text is frozen before anyone signs, every step is recorded with its time, address and browser, and the sealed PDF and its record are kept as evidence of what was agreed. A copy is available to every party.

Quotations, invoices and payments

A quotation is valid for the period stated on it and becomes binding when you accept it in writing or we sign an agreement. Invoices are due on the date they show; payment may be made by bank transfer, cheque, cash or card as agreed with us — we do not take card details through this website. Payments are allocated to the invoices you name, and any remainder is held as credit on your account, both of which you can see in the portal. If you believe an invoice is wrong, tell us before it falls due and we will resolve it before pressing for payment. Terms for late payment, where any, are those on the quotation or agreement.

Software products, licences and updates

Installed software is licensed, not sold. A licence key allows the number of installations, edition, features and term stated when you bought it; each installation activates against our licensing service and refreshes its entitlement periodically, and a licence may be suspended or revoked for non-payment or breach of its terms. Refunds are possible within the refund window stated for the product at purchase and are requested from within the application or through support. Updates are delivered signed, with release notes; you choose when to install them, except for updates we mark mandatory for security, which a product may require before it continues. What we support and for how long is in our support policy.

Hosted products

Each hosted product we operate has its own terms, published on its own site. Whatever they say, the commitments on our cloud page — your data is yours and exportable, security designed in, tested backups, announced changes — apply as a minimum.

Intellectual property

The website, its content, the tools, the Hub, our products and everything we made before or outside your project remain ours. What you receive from a paid project — designs, code, documents, hardware — belongs as set out in that project's agreement; where the agreement is silent, you receive the deliverables you have paid for, and we keep the pre-existing tools, libraries and know-how used to make them, with a licence for you to use them as part of the deliverables. Third-party components carry their own licences, which we list where they apply.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the site and the Hub available at all times, but outside a written service agreement we do not guarantee it: shared hosting, upstream providers and maintenance can interrupt it. We announce changes that affect clients through release notes and the Hub, and nothing that holds your data disappears without notice. We may change these terms; the date at the top tells you when we last did, account holders are e-mailed about changes that matter, and continuing to use the site or the Hub after a change means you accept it.

Disclaimers and liability

The website, tools, guides, downloads and the Hub are provided as they are and as available. So far as the law allows, we make no promise that they are free of error or interruption, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data or business interruption arising from their use, nor for decisions taken on the basis of a free tool or guide. For paid work and products, our liability is as stated in the agreement or licence that governs them. Nothing on this page excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending

You can stop using the site at any time and ask us to close your account. We can suspend or close an account as described above. Ending does not affect invoices already owed, licences already granted or ended on their own terms, the records we must keep by law, or the sections of this page that by their nature continue: intellectual property, disclaimers and liability, and governing law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and disputes about them are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Pakistan, unless the agreement that governs your project or product says otherwise. If you have a complaint, please raise it with us first; most things are resolved by a conversation.
