How we engineer software
Requirements are written and numbered before code is written. Each has a test, and releases are cut only when the tests pass. Databases are designed with constraints and migrations so data stays consistent as the system evolves. Security controls such as authentication, authorization, input validation and audit logging are part of the first version, not a later hardening phase.
We favour server-rendered, standards-based applications with modest dependencies. They are faster to load, simpler to host, and far easier to maintain in five years than a stack chosen for novelty.
Technology
We choose the stack per project and will explain the choice. Typical combinations include PHP or Python back-ends on MySQL or PostgreSQL, native JavaScript or a light framework in the browser, C# or Python for desktop tools, and C/C++ where software meets hardware. Everything is delivered in Git with build and deployment instructions.
Typical engagements
- Replacing a spreadsheet-and-email process with a multi-user system that enforces the rules.
- Building the software side of a hardware product: configuration tools, dashboards, firmware update services.
- Adding an API and integrations to an existing application so it can exchange data with accounting, ERP or field systems.
- Taking over an undocumented codebase, stabilising it, and putting tests and a release process around it.

Do we own the source code?
Yes. On payment, the code, design documents and the repository history are yours. We keep no licence over your bespoke work.
Can you work with our existing developers or IT team?
Yes. We routinely deliver into existing repositories and review processes, and we document to the standard your team needs to carry the work on.
Fixed price or hourly?
Fixed price for well-defined scope, time-based for discovery, research or open-ended maintenance. Proposals state which applies and why.
